Our Story

In 2005, Chip Hiden was diagnosed with diabetes and started the Chipapalooza to fight back agains the disease and do something positive for the community. The first concert took place in Hiden's backyard and featured the band All Time Low, who is now on MTV and touring the world. The show raised over a thousand dollars for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Over 300 people attended and demanded that the concert become an annual tradition. Since then, the concert has continued to grow, being held in bigger venues, featuring nationally touring acts, and raising more money for charity. In 2009, Oprah's trainer, Bob Greene, wrote about Chipapalooza in his book on diabetes management which reached number six on the NY Times best-seller list. Now in our sixth year, we are getting organized to bring you the biggest and best Chipapalooza yet.
